Joanna YeeHi, my name is Joanna Yee. I am 24-years-old and was born here in San Francisco. I started working at UCSF Marilyn Reed Lucia Child Care Study Center as a volunteer in Feb 2006 and then got hired as a part-time substitute teacher that following summer, May 2006. Before volunteering at the child care center I had no experience working with young children. I began to develop an interest in working with young children when I attended the center after a few months. As I have been working at the UCSF Child Care Center, I attended San Francisco State University for 5 years: 3 years taking my GE courses and 2 years taking courses in Child and Adolescent Development (CAD). During my studies as a CAD major, I did my internship at the center as well. I am now a graduate from San Francisco State University with a BA Degree in Child and Adolescent Development: Concentration in Young Child and Family, May 2008. I am the first generation in my family to go to college and graduate. Working with the children at UCSF has been an interesting experience for me and I have learned a lot about working with young children through the teachers at the center and from the parents that I have met. Another interest that I have is working with infants. In the near future I hope to work with infants when the Parnassus Campus starts caring for them. I have experience working with infants as a staff at UCSF Fitness & Recreation Center - Kids Club at the Mission Bay Campus. I have worked there since June 2007-July 2008. I look forward to building my experience as a teacher and working with infants.
